Mrs. Renae Lebo has taught Technology at Trinity since 2014. Prior to that, she taught computer and business classes at the high school level. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
All students in kindergarten through 5th grade take twice-weekly technology classes with Mrs. Lebo where they learn lessons in typing, internet safety, digital citizenship, and device use. Mrs. Lebo enjoys teaching students how to manipulate drawing tools to create themed artwork. Past design projects have included autumn, Christmas, and farm scenes. Students also complete reports on various topics, such as planets, states, and animals, based on online research.
A highlight of technology class is when the students use robots to learn coding skills. The older students program Sphero robots to complete actions such as moving in specific angles to form specific letter shapes. The younger students program Bee-bots to complete movement actions, such as moving forward and turning left and right. During this time, Mrs. Lebo morphs into “Mrs. Beebo,” who is best described as, “a teacher who wears fun bee-themed accessories while sharing all sorts of robot knowledge from near and far!” Mrs. Lebo stays current with emerging technology by communicating with fellow technology teachers and attending workshops.
Trinity Lutheran School has a 1:1 ratio of Chromebooks or tablet devices per K-5 student, ensuring students have the technological resources they need to learn, as well as a classroom that is dedicated for use by technology and Spanish classes. “The technology classroom is a very hands-on and interactive space. The students are engaged with the many different applications that are available to them using the Google platform,” Mrs. Lebo said.
Mrs. Lebo appreciates the closeness of the Trinity community saying, “Trinity has a small family atmosphere where teachers care about their students and can share their faith everyday. My kids attended Trinity; I love that I can impact young students in the same positive way my own were.”
Mrs. Lebo enjoys spending time traveling with her husband and visiting their two young adult sons. In addition to teaching at Trinity Lutheran School, Mrs. Lebo is also the finance assistant at Trinity Lutheran Church.
