Mrs. Bethany Gebers

Director of Christian Outreach

Mrs. Bethany Gebers has served as the Director of Christian Outreach at Trinity Lutheran Church and School since 2021. Prior to that, she served in a year-long DCO internship at Camp Restore Detroit in Detroit. She attended Concordia University, St. Paul, where she majored in Christian Ministry and minored in Lutheran Theology and Dance.

Bethany did not originally plan to enter into church work. “My dad is a pastor, but I never thought I would also go into church work. Through a lot of prayer, guidance from Christian mentors, and God’s clear hand at work, I ended up in the Director of Christian Outreach program at Concordia University, St. Paul. In my time at Concordia, God developed in me a passion for urban ministry and a love for helping Christians recognize their gifts and how they can use those to serve others,” she said.

In her role as Trinity’s DCO, Bethany facilitates Trinity’s interactions with and support of many non-profit organizations that serve the local community. “I love serving in downtown Lincoln. Trinity is located in an area often overlooked by many in Lincoln, but the opportunities for ministry are abundant. I love working in areas with active neighborhood associations and numerous ministry and community organizations to partner with in loving and serving our neighbors,” she said.

One way Bethany serves local families is through Trinity’s Forward ministry. Under her leadership the program has expanded exponentially. “We provide a monthly supplement of diapers and wipes to hundreds of families in Lincoln. Even more special to me, is building relationships with the families who attend Forward and watching their beautiful children grow. It is so special to see the care and love our volunteers have for the families we serve and how we demonstrate Jesus’ love,” she said.

Bethany enjoys serving the students of Trinity Lutheran School as well. She reads to classes and assists students with their memory work and art projects. She also co-leads the after-school dance club. “I enjoy working with small student groups and organizing service projects for our students to serve in our community in Lincoln,” she said.

Bethany strives to bring Trinity church and school members of all ages together for the benefit of the individuals as well as the greater community.  “I find so much joy in serving alongside other Christians and participating in activities that share Jesus’ love,” she said. “I want everyone to find ways they can use their gifts and passions to serve others and help them experience the blessing of seeing how God is working in their lives and in the world around them.”

Bethany enjoys reading, baking, playing games, and working in her yard. She and her husband, Nathan, also enjoy visiting lakes in the summer and hiking in the autumn.
