Learn

Orphan Grain Train (OGT) started 30 years ago when Pastor Ray Wilke was on a mission trip to Latvia and witnessed the poverty, orphans, and widows. He returned to Norfolk and spoke with his friend Clayton Andrews, and together they started sharing the material blessings in Norfolk, NE and the Gospel with Latvia. Now OGT has 27 satellite locations across the United States. There are 15 employees in Norfolk who work for OGT. All other Branches and Collection Centers are run by volunteers.

OGT collects and ships humanitarian aid domestically to disaster areas, missions, Native American reservations, and globally to 69 countries around the world. They are a Four-Star Charity Navigator Non-Profit which means for every 1 dollar donated to OGT, 98 cents go directly to humanitarian aid. OGT vets their recipients so they know aid is going to an honest recipient who has the means and volunteers to get it to the people. They also choose recipients who will share God’s Word with those they serve.

The Lincoln OGT is located at 4817 N. 56th St., Unit 3. It is open Tuesdays from 1-3:30PM, Thursdays from 9-11:30AM and 1-3:30PM, and every Saturday from 9-11:30AM. Currently, 14 different groups regularly volunteer, and they are always looking for additional volunteers and donations. Please see OGT’s Wish List for specific donation asks. Youth groups and high school youth often serve as the hands and feet of Jesus while getting service hours.

OGT also shares some material donations with local agencies. For example, OGT provided twin sheets and pillowcases for the People City Mission for their 300 revolving guests a day. You can learn more about OGT by visiting their website at https://www.ogt.org/. For more information about Lincoln OGT, call Kathy Carter at 402-416-8953 or email kcarter4755@gmail.com.

Pray

  • For continued donations of material goods to share with local and international ministries.
  • For the gospel to be shared whenever supplies are delivered, and for people to know God’s love for them.
  • For OGT and its Branches and Collection Centers to be the body of Christ and to serve others while glorifying the Lord.

      Give

Monetary donations can be given to Orphan Grain Train through the Outreach envelope or online at https://orphangraintrain-bloom.kindful.com/. Material donations of new or gently used clothing, coats, shoes, clothing accessories, blankets, quilts, twin and full bedding, hygiene products, medical supplies, Bibles, bikes, stuffed animals, towels, and washcloths will be collected at church in the OGT barrel in the Narthex. For the full OGT Wish List, please visit their website or find one at the table in the Narthex.
